Rear wheel and fittings

Brompton 1 or 2 speed rear wheel for all models of Brompton folding bikes complete with rim tape and fixings

The same wheel is used for the Brompton single and two speed rear wheel.

A different stack of sprockets / spacers is required based upon which configuration you need for the wheel.

For a single speed Brompton use the single 12T sprocket set
For a two speed Brompton use the double 12T / 16T sprocket set

In addition, you will need wheel nuts - they are not supplied - as you could potentially use the old ones if you are replacing the same wheel type. 

This wheel (hub) uses Shimano style splines for the sprockets - so with the correct spacers / chain length you could use different sprocket sizes if required. Though as standard the single speed uses 12T and the two speed uses a 12T / 16T combination.

The rim is a double wall straight drilled rim and has 28 Spokes

The spokes (in case you need spares) are QSPOK-151-DB-14G - Double butted with two cross lacing

Brompton BSR 3 speed rear wheel

This rear wheel is the result of colaboration between Brompton and Sturmey Archer - it's the wheel used on standard 3 speed Brompton folding bikes

This wheels is only available in silver (the BWR - wide ratio, front wheel and single / two speed rear wheels are also available in black)

Please note: This is the BSR (Brompton standard ratio) wheel only.

What's included in the package:

• Brompton standard ratio 3 speed Sturmey Archer rear wheel with new (introduced in 2013) double walled rim

• Gear indicator chain

• Rim tape

• Chain tensioner / indicator nut

• Wheel nuts

Sprocket stack is a separate item (not included) and can be found on the "related stuff" tab.

Different sprocket sizes are available (if required) - though again, you could be re-using the existing sprocket.

Brompton 3 / 6 speed wide ratio wheel

The Brompton BWR (Brompton Wide Ratio) rear wheel kit contains the following:

• Sturmey Archer / Brompton wide ratio (BWR) 28 hole rear wheel with double walled rim

• Rim tape - yellow for double walled rim (QRIMTAPE-DW)

• Gear indicator chain (QGICH-SA[2]) for alloy shell hub

• Fittings (nuts / bolts / washers)

Normally this wheel is used as part of the Brompton 6 speed wide ratio setup using 2 sprockets, but based upon your selection of sprocket set, this wheel can be used as 3 speed or 6 speed

Uses 9 spline Shimano style fitting

(6 Speed also requires that you have a derailleur chain tensioner)
