Rear Lamp - Dynamo or Battery
This light fits Brompton folding bikes fitted with a rack as well as those without - it simply replaces the rear reflector (and has a reflector built into the light).

New for Brompton in December 2018 - the Brompton Spanninga Solo battery operated rear light
The Brompton battery powered rear light is made for Brompton by Dutch company Spanninga
It is a very slimline single LED rear lamp with integral reflector
The light stays fixed to the bike. The lamp simply replaces the reflector - held in place with 2 bolts (50mm spacing)

The on / off button is on the bottom of the light
Batteries (2 x AAA) are included
Batteries are changed by unclipping the lens from the main unit - no tools required
About the mounting brackets / fixings:
If you have a rack fitted then the brackets holding the reflector will hold the light - unless its a really old tubular rack which will require rack mounting brackets and for you to drill a hole in the rack
If you don't have a rack - then you can use the "Y" shaped bracket (mounted on the rear brake caliper) which holds on the rear reflector
Note: The light actually fits 50mm and 80mm mounts
Brompton use 50mm but the ones we have received so far are set as 80mm - so you may need to change them - this is done by
unclipping the front - as when changing batteries

sliding the mounting bolts out
sliding into the required fitting
press firmly until they click into place
The light comes with two washers and two nyloc washers so it will stay secure on the bike
Dynamo Version:
Brompton Spanninga Solo rear light - new for late 2018 - as supplied with the new SP SV8 hub dynamo kit
This rear dynamo light is also compatible with the previous Brompton hub dynamo systems from Shimano and SON
This Brompton rear dynamo light (made by Dutch company Spanninga) can be mounted to all Brompton folding bikes - with or without a rack (generally it will be a replacement for your existing rear dynamo light and use the existing bracket)
It uses the standard 50mm spacing on the bracket (if you want to fit to a non-Brompton bike it can also be changed to fit 80mm spacing)
The rear light has a "stand light / safe stop" function which means it stays on for approximately 4 minutes after you stop (powered by a capacitor) - to improve your visibility when stationary at traffic lights for example. (Some station masters don't like this functionality as it means you can be on a station platform with a red light)
The "stand light" function provides a benefit over the old fashioned dynamo lights which went out as soon as the bike stopped as it was not longer receiving power
The Brompton Spanninga Solo rear dynamo light also has a built in reflector - so will give some visibility even when the light is not on
The light replaces the reflector - so you can use the existing brackets
The light is connected to the power of the hub dynamo via the front light (the front light connects to the dynamo and the rear light connects to the front light)
